A place to find peace and quiet, a beautiful place which offers an unforgettable one-day experience – the Lika River. The Lika River canyon is one of the most amazing small and forgotten canyons offering much-needed peace and adventure at the same time. The Lika is a subterranean river springing at the foot of mighty Velebit at an altitude of 600 m a. s. l. It is 78km long and it is the second longest subterranean river in Europe. The legend says that two princesses were travelling through this area and one of them, named Gospava, was seriously ill. She drank water from a river that was flowing through this area and she got well so she named the river Lika (ikavica dialect lik – medicine). She built a round tower there and named it after herself – Gospava.

Our meeting point is in Gospić, a small town on the main road to the Adriatic Sea. After tasting homemade Lika brandy and meeting, we set off to our start point where the river sinks underground. As soon as we present you our schedule, we start our “zera” adventure (experience a little bit of everything). When we arrive at the Lika canyon, you can try deep-water soloing (a form of solo rock climbing relying upon the presence of sea at the base). So, a little bit of paddling, a little bit of resting and a lot of enjoying.
